I also work as a Counsellor at York Mind and have a number of years experience of working with a range of clients with a complex and diverse range of needs from age 16 and above.
I have experience of working with adults in areas of anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, bereavement and loss, disability, discrimination, abuse, relationship and family issues, attachment issues, self-harm and more.
I have experience of working with family carers, working in women’s support services and with learning disabilities and autism, where I have also worked as a Mentor and an Advocate, supporting individuals to secure their rights and have a voice about issues that affect them. I have also worked with Care home staff supporting them with the wellbeing, particularly during the pandemic.

When the other person is hurting, confused, troubled, anxious, alienated, terrified; or when he or she is doubtful of self-worth, uncertain as to identity—then understanding is called for. The gentle and sensitive companionship offered by an empathic person… provides illumination and healing. In such situations deep understanding is, I believe, the most precious gift one can give to another
